If you are an undergrad at the University of Minnesota, or if you have an undergrad friend, please pass on this information. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is not a theatre major but who has interest in acting. Plus, Joanne, the instructor, needs to get 14 people registered for the class by the time the spring semester starts or she'll have to scramble to find another TA position. Pass this info on.
TH1301, Acting for Non-Majors meets on Tues/Thurs, 4-5:15 pm
Instructor: Joanne Zerdy
TH1301, Acting for Non-Majors is a class designed to help students develop
their communication skills through fun & challenging physical and vocal
exercises, creative collaborative group work, and various performance
activities (scenework, monologues, etc.). This course also aims to develop
a student's critical thinking in terms of the intersections between
performance and everyday life, different modes of theatre-making, and how
theatre praxis relates to other disciplines. We will also see theatrical
performances & analyze how actors' choices help shape the overlook
look/feel of a production. As a "Non-Major" introductory course, this class
welcomes students from various disciplines with different perspectives
about theatre, performance, and the arts more broadly. No experience
necessary! Please email Joanne Zerdy @ zerdy001@umn.edu with any questions
or concerns.
