The flow of time, the becoming, the pace of it all

Well over a month since my last post and I apologize about that. I apologize to myself and to you all. I've been keeping track of things to write down in this space, but because so many things have been happening in every single second of every single day, I think I've misplaced many of the thoughts I tried to hold on to. No matter thought. Plenty to tell. Working backwards:

The ARTICULATIONS conference was a major success. We had people from all over convene in our building on campus and for two days we talked about performance and theatre scholarship. We looked at the field from multiple angles and I personally learned a lot. It was very interesting to see the kind of people that were interested in this type of work. I didn't feel any sort of colleague-like connection with them, but I was very happy that we had made a space to talk and to hang out.

A highlight of the conference was the final presentation, offered to us by Professor Adeena Karasick (St. John's University, NY) and Professor Maria Damon (UofMinn), titled "Simultaneous Jewissance." I won't go into the intricacy of the pun performed by that title, but I will say that you should Google both of these people and look into their work. They are poets and mad wordsmiths. They discussed the relationship of artists with their critics and embodied the dialogue that usually remains confined to the pages of journals or newspapers.

My presentation on the Grid was successful, too. I improvisationally moved through the issues of social convention and what happens when people snap to those conventions without knowing they are doing it. I used The Viewpoints (Mary Overlie's) to foreshadow my discussion and that was actually very fun as well as academically interesting.

AND IT ALL KEEPS GOING.

I'm still in the middle of what is shaping up to be the most chaotic season of my life. I'm exhausted and I have tons of work to do. There will be upcoming releases of information regarding the shows I am participating in, so stay tuned to this blog and to MySpace.

Hope you are all well and adjusting to the end of Fall.
