I recently wrote an essay about the process of designing the sound for Hamletmachine with the purpose of submitting the essay for publication in a new journal about Sound and the Moving Image coming out of Liverpool in Merry Old England. Today I received the rejection letter. The reason they gave for not accepting my piece was that they felt my topic had little to do with a "moving image" medium.
How is theatre not a "moving image medium"? That's a loaded question since it's almost impossible to prove a negative state, but I think it is legitimate nonetheless. I spent a good amount of effort in the essay talking about theatre as a "moving image medium" and comparing it to the traditional media of images, cinema. Looks like they didn't buy it.
So I now have a spare twenty page essay lying around. If anybody wasnts to read it, let me know and I'll email it to you.
