Performance Piece #1

I don't know who reads this thing, but I'm serious about this: These are instructions for a performance piece. I'd like you to follow the instructions in any way you see fit. This will require several performers and a video recording device of some sort. Please mail a copy of the tape to me. If I don't know you, I'll give you my address (that's right) after you leave me a comment on this blog saying that you have finished the piece. I'll tell you where the idea came from after you've finished.

1. Conference Room Table
2. People seated
3. 1 Primary Male with nametag "Charles"
4. 1 Primary Female with nametag "Lisa"
5. "Charles" sits next to "Lisa"
6. "Lisa" discusses the concept of punching and how the physical act corresponds to a purely discursive notion of "punching." She gestures her way through this explanation, using Charles as the recipient of the would-be punch.
7. At the end of the explanation, "Lisa" turns to "Charles" and caresses his face.
8. People at the table react with surprise.
